terms of service

Last updated August 1, 2026. Using the app or playing with the club means you agree to these.

The short version. Membership is $30 a month and renews by itself until you cancel, which you can do at any time from the app. Sport is physical and you play at your own risk. Be decent to everybody else and we will never need the rest of this page.

who this is with

These terms are between you and Local Hearts Club LLC, 211 Highwood Ct, Knoxville, TN 37920, trading as Local Hearts Club. Where they say "we" or "the club", that is who they mean.

your account

You must be 18 or older. Some events have a higher limit of their own, and beer pong nights are 21 and over. The details on your account have to be true. Rosters, insurance and emergency contact all depend on it. One account per person. Do not let somebody else play on yours, because that is who our insurer thinks is on the field. You can delete your account whenever you like, from the app. the waiver

Before you can register for a league or take a spot at an event you sign the club's liability waiver in the app. It is a separate agreement from this one and it is required. If we publish a new version, everyone signs again, because an old signature only covers the old wording.

membership

What it costs and what it gets you $30 per month. While your membership is active, every pickup night is free. Membership is not required to play anything and it does not include league registration fees.

Membership buys access to real world activities at physical venues. It is not a subscription to digital content or to features inside the app.

Billing

You are charged when you join and on the same day each month after that. It renews automatically until you cancel it. Payment is taken by Stripe from the card you gave them. If a payment fails, Stripe retries. If it keeps failing your membership ends and pickup nights start costing money again.

Cancelling

In the app: Account, then Membership, then Manage billing. Cancel there and no further payment is taken.

You stay a member until the end of the month you have already paid for, and pickup stays free until then. We do not prorate a part used month.

Deleting your account cancels your membership too, and that one takes effect straight away rather than at the end of the month. See delete your account.

Price changes

We can change the price. If we do, we will tell you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before the new price is charged.

fees, credit and refunds

Money that comes back comes back as club credit. That is the default for everything below. We can refund to the original payment method instead, and we will in exceptional circumstances, but that is our decision to make case by case rather than something you can require.

League registration

Paid per season, up front, and refunded as club credit. Ask us as early as you can: once a season is scheduled and rosters are set, your spot has already cost us a place we could have given somebody else.

Register as a free agent and we will place you on a team. If we cannot place you before the season starts, your fee comes back to you as club credit.

Pickup nights

Paid per night, or free with membership. Drop out more than one hour before kickoff and the money comes back as club credit. Inside that last hour the spot is yours whether or not you use it, because nobody else can take it by then.

Club credit

Credit is applied automatically the next time you register for something. It is not cash, it has no cash value outside the club, and we do not pay it out to a card. It does not expire.

When we cancel

Weather, a venue falling through, not enough players. If we cancel a night you paid for, you get it back as credit or, if you ask, back to your card. If we cancel a whole season we will refund the unplayed part of it.

conduct

This is recreational sport between adults who have work in the morning. The standard is simple: do not be the reason somebody stops coming.

Specifically, none of the following:

Violence, threats, or deliberately dangerous play Harassment or abuse of any kind, including at referees and organisers Slurs or discrimination on any grounds Playing under the influence to the point of being a danger to other people Damaging a venue we have to keep renting We can remove you from a game, a season or the club. For anything serious there is no refund, and we will not host you again.

playing carries risk

Sport causes injuries. You take part voluntarily, you are responsible for deciding whether you are fit to play, and you accept the risk that comes with it. The waiver you sign in the app covers this in full and it is the document that governs.

We do not provide medical cover and we are not responsible for your personal belongings at a venue.

the app

We will keep the app working but cannot promise it is always available or always correct. Schedules move, venues change, and we will tell you when they do. Do not rely on the app for anything outside running your games with us.

The app, the name, the logo and everything we have written belong to us. Team names and photos you upload stay yours, and you give us permission to show them in the app and in club materials.

limits on what we owe you To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything connected with the club or the app is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law does not let us limit.

changes to these terms

We can update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Carrying on playing after that means you accept the new version.

governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict of law rules.

arbitration

Read this section. It affects how any dispute between us gets resolved, and it means neither of us goes to court.

You and Local Hearts Club LLC agree that any dispute arising out of these terms, your membership, a payment, or your use of the app will be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, and that each of us waives the right to a jury trial.

The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, held in Knox County, Tennessee or by video at your choice, before a single arbitrator. The arbitrator decides everything a court could, including whether a claim belongs in arbitration at all.

Individually, not as a class. Neither of us may bring a claim as a plaintiff or class member in a class, collective or representative action, and the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims. If this paragraph is found unenforceable, the whole arbitration section does not apply and the dispute goes to the courts of Knox County, Tennessee.

Two things this does not cover. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, if it qualifies. And either of us may ask a court for an injunction to stop misuse of intellectual property.

You can opt out. Email play@localhearts.club with the subject line ARBITRATION OPT-OUT within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms, and this section will not apply to you. Nothing else changes, and opting out will not affect your membership or your place in any league.
